Region presentation

Capital of Wallonia, gateway to the Belgian Ardennes, Namur is located at the confluence of the rivers Meuse and Sambre, halfway between Brussels and Luxembourg.
The city, dominated by the citadel (www.citadelle.namur.be), called the termite nest of Europe by Napoleon because of the maze of underground passages, has a privileged position which has influenced its destiny, throughout its history. Despite the numerous sieges at different times, the city of Namur has kept a rich movable and immovable heritage. The city's heritage is worth discovering, hosting a number of places of important cultural interest among which the Felicien Rops Museum and the Royal Theatre of Namur (www.theatredenamur.be).
